Melvin and Peggy (135), Ralph (146), and Marshall and Mary (127) are starting to plan for the Blincoe Ingathering during the weekend of October 17 and 18, 1987 in Manassas, VA. It's located in Prince William County, eleven and one half miles southwest of Fairfax and 20 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. VISITING THE CLAN
Helen (200) and Ed (44) drove from York Beach, ME to Littleton, CO around Labor Day. We had a great trip of 2750 miles during which we visited James (270) in Kirkwood, NY; Sarah Jane (258) in York, PA; Ralph (146) in Burke, VA; Melvin (135) and family in Charlottesville, VA; Mrs William Blenko (314) in Milton, WV; Ben (8), Tom (261) and Louise (272) in Louisville, KY; and Marshall (127) in Kansas City, MO. We tried to visit Tom (263) in Fort Riley, KS, but settled with talking to Carol, his wife, on the phone. We immensely enjoyed our visit with each of you and the others who came to your homes while we were there. Again, thanks to each of you. Because of time we will try to stop at Evansville, IN; Mayfield, KY; and ST Louis, MO next time. Ed (44) and Helen (200)
WHY WE DO IT !
We have several purposes in contacting Blincoe's. First, it's been fun - fun visiting with you on the phone, by mail, and in your homes - we've met a lot of nice people whom we can call friends as well as relatives. Secondly, it's challenging - probably the hardest of which is to correspond in such a way that you will be moved to correspond with us - also in trying to figure out who is related to whom and by what manner. Thirdly, Don (33) hopes to put together a book and we want to help him. We'd like to ferret out all the relatives so that they could be included in the book and so the book could be made available to them. Don would also like to include good stories about the living as well as about our ancestors. At a later date, we plan to be asking a few of you to help with correspondence; but now ask that each of you provide all possible feed back that you can as to names, addresses, birthdays, birthplaces, marriage dates and locations, death dates and locations. Please don't guess as to the information you furnish. If an item is questionable, put a question mark after it. (i.e. Nov 11, 1918?, or 1918?, or Littleton, CO?) PLEASE HELP! by Ed (44.)
? ? WHO ARE THEY ? ?
The Owensboro, KY, paper reported in August that Mrs. Lillian Blincoe was burned during a fire in her home. We hope by this time she is recovered. We don't know to whom she's related since we haven't heard from her and none of you correspondents have referred to her. WHO IS LILLIAN?
