The 2010 Blencowe Family Association Reunion
Writing this for the last newsletter before the reunion, I can say that plans seem to be falling into place, thanks to the invaluable help of many locals who will be involved and helping us during the three days.
There has been considerable interest in visiting Dacre Church and Dalemain House on the Monday afternoon. Therefore this will go ahead after the tour of Greystoke Castle. I will be able to give exact details at the Dinner on Saturday evening and also at the garden tea party at the Hall on Sunday afternoon. For those who need to know earlier I should know details at the start of June, so please telephone or e-mail, if more details are required.

Further information
- A booklet about the history of the village and Hall and written by those who live in Blencow village, will be on sale at £5 a copy, at both the dinner and the tea party.
- Leaflets about local attractions will be available. Suggestions include Blencow Railway Station, Hutton-in-the-Forest, the Upfront Gallery and Puppet Theatre and the Alpaca Centre.
- Some may like to find time to explore what is left of the late 12th Century Old Blencowe Hall (see article in newsletter of November 2009 page 10). This is on the east side of the river Petterell in the parish of Dacre and was almost certainly the home of Adam de Blencow and his forbears.
- We shall be arranging an exhibition of various Blencowe memorabilia at both the Buffet Dinner on Saturday and the tea party on Sunday. If you have anything of interest to display, please bring it along.
