Unveiling of Historic Marker
The unveiling of the historic marker for Convict John Blencowe and Elizabeth nee Horner's grave at the Cheltenham Pioneer Cemetery, in Victoria, Australia on the 17th June 2012 was cause for a mini reunion of family members; a modest 142 years after John died from a kick by a horse at Mordialloc.
The honor of the unveiling the historic marker was given to the youngest descendant present, Amy Rose Wakely, a 4th times great grand daughter of John and Elizabeth.
After the two year project it was good to actually meet our 3rd and 4th cousins. Margaret Inglis had travelled from Perth in Western Australia to be present. With the formalities over, the 'Friends of the Cemetery' provided a delightful array of refreshments which everyone thoroughly enjoyed and made the most of the excellent opportunity for getting to know one another.
