Blencowe Families' Association Newsletter Vol. 21 No. 3 November 2006

Letter from the Editor

Dear Cousins,

Thankyou for the positive feed back on my first newsletter — even if I did get the volume number wrong! I like how readers have contributed feedback articles.

Jack has asked me to thank Peter for his kind words published in the last newsletter and also to thank those who have written him personally. He added that we should remember Bob and Helen Simpson for their initiative and Jill Dudbridge who collected so much documentary information on the eastern side of the Atlantic.

The exciting news is the response to the plea to keep the UK reunion happening. Thank you to Peter Blencowe for booking two events. People can now plan their travels to “Blencoweshire” around these functions. Kinfolk are travelling from Canada, USA, New Zealand, Belgium, Australia and maybe Spain as well as from various parts of Britain to attend. Both reunions are now on the website; refer to for updates.

It was such a huge and daunting project at the time but THE BOOK — the most amazing account of our family is almost sold out. With only 45 copies left of The Blencowe Families: the Descendants of the Blencowe Families of Cumbria and Northamptonshire, it is time to secure a copy for future generations of your family.

To keep the newsletter relevant to a broad audience I require articles of interest from all parts of the Blencowe world. We need a balance from the various countries so please send me those interesting stories you stumble upon during your research. Pose questions to the wider audience or put things up for comment. If you have new ideas we can incorporate, let me know. It is your newsletter — so make it work.

Many subscriptions are due for renewal. Prices will have changed due to this newsletter coming out of Australia rather than the UK. Please consult the back page before renewing.

I take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a wonderful 2007.
