Which Nicholas Blincoe worked in the Royal Household?
We need your help with this one, please?
During the Reign of King Charles 11, the residences of the Royal family were Hampton Court Palace and Windsor Castle

Strolling along the bank of the Thames or catching a boat would be a pleasant way to go to work. However, if it was in one of these Royal Households and you were not paid, perhaps the gloss would soon wear off the job!
Although Windsor Castle was big enough to hold the entire court, it had no chambers for the King's Council. Instead Charles took advantage of the good road links emerging around Windsor to hold his council meetings at Hampton Court when he was staying at the castle. This would have created the need for stables at both ends of the trip.
Information has been found of a Nicholas Blincoe being in the Royal Service List of 1670 and a renewal of that position in 1671.
As the Royal residence at that time was Hampton Court or Windsor Castle, the only family that we can find that fits is Nicholas Blinker who married Sarah Armitage in 1665 in Richmond Surrey. As it was Sarahs second marriage, her maiden name is unknown.
Richmond is on the River Thames midway between Hampton Court and Windsor Castle. This suggests that it is quite possible that Nicholas was the Groom of the Chamber in Ordinary without fee 27 Feb. Nicholas probably paid to get the position which was quite common at that time. He would have relied on tips for his earnings.
Nicholas and Sarah had a son, named Nicholas in 1666 in Richmond. He would have been too young for the job but it might help readers recognise the family.
Young Nicholas, a shipwright, married Sarah Luck in 1700 in Tonbridge, Kent. Their son, Camerine was born in 1704 at Holborn. Daughter Martha born in 1707 at Stepney only lived a few days.
The family name is recorded as Blincoe, Blimcoe, Blinker, Blinco and Blincor. Daphne is wondering if this family is the beginning of Blincoes of Ware, Hertfordshire? Please get in touch if you can help.
