'Neville Howard, who will be our guide at Greystoke, was intrigued by your mention of a Adam de Blencow headstone in the last newsletter. He knows nothing about it! As owner of the castle he feels he should! Can you enlighten us?'
Answer: I was sure I'd read or been told that the headstone bearing Adam's arms was in a niche at Greystoke castle. I thought it was either the one removed from the burial mound (Page 7) or the one on Page 6 that can be seen in front of the building (old chapel) on the left of the picture.
Well I've searched and cannot find my source for that information, finding only a reference to the Blencowe Coat of Arms being in the stained glass at Greystoke church. I must apologise for my incorrect information and my over active imagination.
