Readers were fascinated that we had men on both sides. Three commented on the Coloured Infantry and asked if we had black Blincoes? Yes, some of our men married black women. It was also common for slaves to take the surname of their owner. Once the family began to emigrate it was inevitable that we would become cross-cultured we now have Blencowes in many colours and shades.
